This Sunday our text is from Paul’s letter to the Romans as he wrestles with why if we have been brought into a relationship of sharing in the glory of God, do we still suffer? Paul’s answer is that “suffering produces endurance,and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us.” Faith is thus trusting — even or especially in suffering — that God’s love is steadfast and hope worthy. Hope will not disappoint.
